Program Description
The Culinary Arts program at JABCC prepares students for today's workforce. The onsite student-operated restaurant creates a real-life food service industry experience for the students. Emphasis is placed on a positive work ethic, professionalism, customer service, sanitation/safety, cooking and baking production. Each student during their three year job training education will work in the following capacities:
- Front-of-the-house service
- To-go, fast food sevice
- Back-of-the house prep and cooking stations
- Baking and pastry production
- Sanitation/dishwashing/clean-up
- Floater/roundsmen
- ProStart certification from The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation
- Pass year 1 and 2 of national exam
- Work 200 hours in food service industry outside of school
- Receive from the NRAEF a certificate of achievement for the Prostart Program
